About Me

Protecting Your Tresses

I’ve always relished an opportunity to get a new hairstyle. In fact, my hairstylist never knows what I’m going to ask for next. I always keep her in suspense. For the past few years, I’ve switched back and forth between two distinctly different styles. While I enjoy experimenting with my hair, the continuous processing I put it through is detrimental to my tresses. Therefore, I have to be careful to protect my hair. Every day, I apply a deep conditioner to my hair. I also dry my hair on a warm setting instead of a hot one. On this blog, you will learn how to maintain your hairstyle while protecting your tresses from damage.

How To Grow Out Your Hair Faster

So you decided to get that cute pixie cut you've always wanted, but two years later you want your hair long again - and it's taking forever to grow it out. You may feel like your hair will never grow long again, but it is growing, maybe just not as quickly as you would like. There are a few things you can do to help your hair grow a bit quicker. See below for some helpful tips.

Have Your Hair Trimmed Often

It may sound like you're defeating the purpose, but getting your hair trimmed means healthier locks. Have your hair trimmed regularly to get rid of split or dead ends. If you're growing your hair out, you can get away with going about every 6 - 8 weeks, and just ask for a trim, not inches taken off (unless you have a lot of dead ends or damage).

Give Oil Or Deep Conditioning Mask Treatments

You can have a hot oil treatment or a moisturizing mask done to your hair to help encourage growth. This can be done by yourself at home, or you can have it done at your local hair salon by a professional. The treatments will help to moisturize your scalp and keep your locks full of moisture. Have this done to your hair once per month.

Eat Properly

Eat foods high in vitamins and minerals such as fresh fruits and veggies, as well as lean meats and fish. Eating properly will ensure longer and healthier locks. Not eating enough can result in hair loss, broken strands or thinning hair.

Drink Water

Drink plenty of water to keep your scalp and skin hydrated. It will also keep your strands hydrated and moisturized. Lack of water can result in brittle strands or even hair loss.

Homemade Treatments

You can try a few things at home to give your hair longer locks. These are all natural ingredients, some of which you may already have in your pantry. Combine 2 Tbsp. olive oil and 1 cup of water, then apply it to your hair. Leave it to sit for about 10 minutes, then wash it clean. Repeat this twice per month for longer hair. You can also try 2 Tbsp. coconut oil and 1 cup of water. Massage it into your hair and scalp, then wash it out.

Your hair will grow out, but it may take some time. Keep it healthy by getting regular trims, eating and drinking properly and by keeping your scalp moisturized and hydrated. Talk to your stylist about other ways to get your hair to grow out faster.
